I’d like to say I wake up much earlier than my kids every morning. I’d like to say that I have time to make them a gourmet breakfast. But when you have little kids who often require you to wake up multiple times a night, momma might choose to get a couple extra minutes of shut-eye instead. Our breakfasts are usually pretty simple. Frozen waffles, cereal, smoothies, and eggs are the usual contenders… or anything else that I can get ready one-handed while holding the baby and being chased around by hungry toddlers. When I find a new option to throw in the mix, I get pretty excited. So when Jimmy Dean asked me to try their Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Croissant breakfast sandwiches, I looked forward to incorporating them into our routine to see how they’d go over. IMG_1732

It was pretty handy to simply place them in the microwave for a few minutes. Now I obviously couldn’t just throw them each a whole sandwich. Their little mouths wouldn’t know what to do with it! So I cut them up into little pieces and breakfast was served. I was honestly not sure how my kids would like them. You know, because kids are creatures of habit and trying something new can require quite a bit of convincing. IMG_1734

But to my surprise, the gobbled them right up and then asked for more! It was nice to feel like I was serving a weekend type breakfast on a weekday! Plus, there was plenty of protein to get their day off to a great start. In our house, protein means fewer meltdowns, which I GREATLY appreciate. IMG_1738

With a newborn, my “favorite” way to start off the morning doesn’t happen as often anymore :). But, in a perfect world, I would wake up early, have a bit of alone time to drink coffee, do devotions and eat some type of egg based breakfast!

to start our day off right I make sure to make my kindergartener’s lunch the night before (and get his backpack packed) and set the coffee maker to start in the morning before I get out of bed! Those two things help give us a few extra minutes in the mornings to get ready and send my son off to school on time!

We have chickens so eggs for breakfast happens every day. I like to give my kids a fruit, this week we’ve been having strawberries with breakfast. I made a big batch of banana muffins a few days ago that we’ve been having with breakfast this week too. A typical morning usually consists of eggs, fruit and a bread of some sort.
