Yesterday I was blessed by adult conversations! It was a nice break from the baby talk and toddler talk. It’s funny, because I’m so used to my own little world when I’m at home alone with my kids, that sometimes I feel a little awkward when I actually have time to talk to an adult! Even when Jake walks through the door sometimes, it takes me a little while to snap into adult conversation mode because I’m just so used to “goo-goo and gah-gahing” with the babes or interpreting Baylen’s growing vocabulary.
Anyway, it was refreshing to have opportunities to be “me” yesterday, and remember that while it feels like being mom consumes a large party of my identity, I’m still Amber. I’m thankful for friends who encourage me along the way and remember ME. I think it’s so important that we take off our many “hats” once in a while and simply be “us.” We aren’t defined by our work, even if it’s being a mom. We aren’t defined by who we married. We aren’t defined by our family. We aren’t defined by what we look like or what we wear, or what size clothes we fit in. We need to remember that we are secure in Christ’s love, and that our identity can only be found in HIM. He created us perfectly for HIS purposes!
Thank you, Lord, for using conversations to remind me of my true identity! Please help me to listen to your voice as I go about my days and to be the woman that you created me to be.
Love,
Amber
