Hello friends! It’s been a while since I shared an update about what’s been going on with our little family. Probably the biggest news is that Jake took a new job! He wasn’t necessarily looking for something different, but an opportunity presented itself and after much prayer, we went for it. I’m so proud of my hubby! We’ll still be based out of the Twin Cities, but the first few months require him to attend a bunch of training across the country, so I’ve been leaning heavily on family to help me out with the kids while he travels. The traveling piece isn’t much fun, but it’s only temporary, so we know we can make it through! And there are perks…like this weekend when I got to fly out to see him. He was sent to Tempe, AZ for a couple weeks including the weekend between, so when my parents offered to watch the kids, we gratefully took them up on their offer and booked me a plane ticket! It was the first time I’d been away since Emersyn and Mckinley were born, and a little trip with my honey was so good for my soul.

Our weekend was pretty low key and 100% relaxing. The main attraction was getting as much sleep as we wanted! I can’t even tell you what a blessing it was to sleep in and take naps whenever we felt like it!

When we weren’t sleeping, we worked out, drank coffee, sipped cocktails by the pool, ate at fun restaurants, and did a little shopping. It was SO weird not planning our outings around naptimes or having to worry about what I was drinking/eating that might affect the girls. Since we have plenty of extra milk stored for them, I didn’t hassle over storing any to bring back, but just pumped and dumped. It was a very nice little break to have my body disconnected from them, so to speak.

A few highlights from our weekend:

72 uninterrupted hours alone with THIS guy!Ams and Jake ScottsdaleIt was HOT, like over 100 degrees hot, so the pool was pure bliss. And you guys, these pina coladas were infused with cherry vodka…hands down the best I’ve ever tasted!Pina ColadasSomething you may not have known about me: I’ve always wanted to get my nose pierced! After a little encouragement from Jake, I finally got it done! I was soooo nervous, but it was a tiny pinch and that was it! Nose RingIt wouldn’t have been a trip without a stop at In N Out Burger! (Complete with a teenager photo bomb.)In N Out TempeIt was fun for me to be able to see the corporate offices for Jake’s new company and visualize where he’s been hard at work studying. After he completes his training, he’ll be working in peripheral vascular intervention.Jake BARDThis was taken outside our hotel…where we started our daily adventures. So much was within walking distance!Fountain

This weekend was a real treat, one that I’ll look back on and do nothing but smile. It was just the fuel I needed to give me the energy to jump back into my busy days with my sweet kiddos. To be honest, I think my tank was running on fumes before I left, and it feels so good to be filled up!

A huge thanks goes out to my awesome parents who took precious care of Baylen, Emersyn, and Mckinley while I was away. My kids are blessed to have such amazing grandparents!

Well, I’m off to bed! I’ve missed my kids so much and am excited to wake up bright and early to spend every waking moment with them tomorrow!

So glad you got to get away for a little vacation! So important especially with three little ones! Looks like you had a great time and love the nose ring! I had mine pierced for a few years back in college and loved it but had to remove it once I started teaching 🙁
