We had a lovely Easter weekend at home! Well, I guess it didn’t start out great. Jake and I both came down with some sort of stomach bug late last week which completely took us out. We spent Friday and Saturday taking turns watching the kids while the other slept. Strangely, we both had horrible back pain, so Jake scheduled each of us got a massage on Saturday and after sleeping for 12 hours that night we woke up feeling much better. Thankfully none of the kids got it!

Sunday was perfect. We went to the early service at church (miracle!!!) and spent the rest of the morning playing with the kids at the park. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect. I was so excited it was actually warm enough for the girls to wear their Easter dresses. It got me so excited for warm weather and being able to run out of the house without putting on a hundred layers. IMG_0296IMG_0257IMG_0260Over the past couple months, Baylen has become adorably affectionate toward Emersyn and Mckinley. He loves to give them hugs, albeit a little too tight sometimes, but his love for them grows exponentially everyday. It has been such a blessing to see the compassion he has for them. He’s settling into his protective older brother role nicely. IMG_0270Since we stayed in Minnesota and didn’t travel to see family this year, we had plans to have a nice brunch at home. But we were having so much fun at the park that we decided to opt for whatever restaurant we could find that didn’t have a wait. SO, Perkins it was! Jake and I haven’t spent much time there since college, but gosh what a classic. And with kids, you really can’t go wrong. The breakfast was outstanding, and since it was super dead, we didn’t have to worry about the chaos that ensues when our family dines out.

After lunch we headed back home and played outside with the kids for a bit before putting them down for their naps, and then putting ourselves down for naps. We bank on that Sunday afternoon nap every week!IMG_0310After super long naps from everybody (maybe all that time outside was strategic by mom and dad?!) we headed out on a family walk to another park. We believe in two-a-days over here! IMG_0316IMG_0319IMG_0318

Soon it was time to head back, feed the kids dinner, give them baths, and put them to bed. Jake and I were talking last night how it was the most absolute perfect family day.

After we had them down, I headed out on a sunset jog, the perfect way to end a perfect day.

Oh, and then I came back home and made us this homemade apple braid, because well, I’m pregnant and it sounded good. I only have about 20 weeks of my life left to use the pregnancy craving excuse. I figure I better live it up while I can!

I hope you had a wonderful Easter as well. We are so blessed serve a risen Savior!

XOXO,

Amber
