Hello again! Last night we returned from a little getaway to Duluth! Jake had to be there for work, so the kids and I tagged along. We tried to pack as minimally as possible, which isn’t very possible, but despite it being a little extra work to get everyone and everything there, it was totally worth it. Sometimes it’s just nice to get out of the house into different surroundings.
But before I share more about our trip, I have some catching up to do from last week. It was a pretty dreary week around here, so we were housebound for the most part. Baylen and I did this activity with playdough, spaghetti, and Cheerios one morning and he loved it! The girls have fallen into a nice morning nap schedule, so it’s been awesome to have a little extra one on one time with him while they sleep. When the sisters wake up Baylen helps me entertain them. This week, we realized that their necks were strong enough to sit in their Bumbos! After a few minutes they usually have had enough so we resort back to laying them in the pack and play. Two of my dear friends came to visit us this week as well! Beks came one night with delicious pizza, and lots of energy to play peek-a-boo with Baylen. He just LOVED it!Then Jeana came another day and helped me out with the kids and also brought a delicious meal. What a joy it was to spend time together! To top off a great week, we had the pleasure of seeing my brother Jason and his wife Ali! They were in town for a friend’s wedding, and we got to sneak in some time with them. Baylen loved the extra attention.Since we had more adults than kids, we decided to brave a trip to the neighborhood pool. Squinty eyes and all, it was nice to get out for a bit. I hung out poolside with these beauties. Baylen fell asleep on Aunt Ali’s shoulder on the walk home…so sweet! The nap was just the ticket because when he woke up he was ready to play cars again…sporting a super cool double cowlick in the back, might I add. Our very own little Alfalfa! After we dropped off Jas and Ali at the airport on Sunday, we packed up and headed north. While we were in Duluth we enjoyed several walks along Lake Superior, some more peaceful than others. The girls are still getting the hang of the stroller, and aren’t afraid to let us know when they’re sick of it!We took Baylen to the pool, but this pretty much sums up our experience there. He loved the water last summer, but so far this year he’s been a little skeptical. We’ll just keep trying! One evening we took the kids to the park. It was a pleasant trip thanks to the Baby Bjorn! Little Emersyn loved being carried by her daddy. When we weren’t out and about, we chilled in the hotel room. We had a beautiful view of Lake Superior which Bay loved. And the girls were pretty content to lay on the bed. Within the last week, they’ve started to be okay laying on their own and not being held, as long as they can see me, but when I walk out of eyesight they freak out a little. It works out okay, because I have an awfully hard time walking away from those beautiful stares! We had a great time away, but it’s also nice to be back home, despite the extra loads of laundry that piled up when I unpacked the suitcases. We are learning to embrace the craziness, and enjoy the journey! I just love our busy little family!
I hope you had a great week as well!
Love,
Amber

Aunt Sarah wants to take Baylen to the pool!!! Can’t wait for this weekend!
so fun to follow your adorable family! You guys are awesome!
Thanks Kelly! 🙂
Love it that you were able to tag along with Jake this week! A great break-up to your typical routine at home. I’ll come play peek-a-boo anytime with Baylen! Love those sneaky looks he would give. 🙂
Good for you for taking all three traveling! I think that’s awesome! The girls are already looking so much bigger! AND, you look fabulous!
It is so special to catch up with your little family on you website! You have an adorable little family and are so proud of you and how you have adjusted to the twins. They are growing so nicely and so is Baylen. Sounds like he is adjusting well too!. You look great Amber!
Thanks Aunt Deb! Thanks for reading my blog! I miss you guys! I’m really looking forward to seeing you at the wedding this summer, if not before then. Thanks for your encouragement!
Hi Amber,
I’m so glad that you and your family got away for some quality time and that you had a good time. I’m sure things looked a lot better when you got home. I think to take children when they are babies aren’t as hard to do as when they are older. It looked like you had a beautiful, peaceful, view out the window. I love all of your pictures and they show how much your children are growing. I love that little saying about dust can wait but your children do not. It also sounds like you are able to get into some kind of schedule now since the girl’s are napping at the same time. By being able to give Baylen time just for him will make him feel “Special”. Sometimes the older one gets jealous. Well, you are doing such a good job as Mom and I continue to pray for God to bless you in all the ways that you need. Just keep God at the center of your life and family. Say hi to Jake for me, and that he is a good Dad too. He was always one of my favorite piano students.
Love, Mary
Thanks for your encouragement, Mary! I always look forward to your comments. Jake often talks about what sweetheart you are and how much he appreciated your teaching and encouragement growing up! We hope to pass down music to our kids too! 🙂
