Before we get to the summer fitness challenge update (which you guys rocked, by the way!) I wanted to take a few minutes and share a little bit about how God’s been working in my mind lately. If I had to use one word to describe how I felt much of the last week it would probably be “frumpy.” Blah. Don’t you just hate weeks like that? I’m not sure what my deal was, but I just seemed to be in sort of a funk.
SO, I decided to combat those negative thoughts with positive ones. Whenever I take the stroller for a spin, I turn on a podcast. No headphones, I just blare it through my phone speakers. (If I wore headphones while driving my rig of a stroller I’m pretty sure I’d get turned in for neglecting my babes who most definitely need me when they decide to whimper during some point of our daily adventures.) So yes, I’m that weird mom who has sermons blaring from the storage pockets of my stroller. And it’s awesome.
I’ve been blessed with so much truth and wisdom from them lately, but there was one message in particular about our insecurities that spoke directly to me.
“When you see you as God sees you, EVERYTHING CHANGES. Do you see you as God sees you?”
Without a doubt, God sees us as so beautiful. We are lovely. He created us, so when we’re hard on ourselves, we are really being hard on Him, who “…knit us together in our mother’s womb.”
This was an amazing reminder for me to pause and fight the mental battle every time I start to feel down on myself for any reason, big or small. I need to remember that frumpy isn’t in God’s vocabulary. So on those days when my hair is slicked back in yet another ponytail, and my little pouch of a tummy is making me feel 3 months pregnant, I’m choosing to not let it get to me. Instead, I’m praising God for the way He made me, and the opportunities he’s giving me to get out and move, and allowing my perspective to be renewed.
“I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. I know that FULL WELL.” -Psalm 139:14
I am also praising the Lord for all the miles you are logging in our summer fitness challenge! Seriously, you are incredible. This week logged another 469 miles, for a grand total of 752 miles! Awesome work, ladies!
If you haven’t joined in the fun yet, you are always more than welcome! I know there are actually a good handful of you who are really pregnant. If you aren’t able to join now, but would like to join later in the summer after your doc gives you the okay, we’d love to have you! Go here to join: Mommy Needs to MOVE on Daily Mile.
Next week we’ll start hearing from some amazing women who will be sharing an aspect of their fitness journey with us. My beautiful sister-in-law, Madison, is going to start us off, and she’ll be talking about how she balances a healthy lifestyle while being busy. I can hardly wait!
Let’s have another great week and try to beat our weekly record again!
Thanks for inspiring me!

Thank you for your inspiration I needed it. I sometimes also feel like I am in a funk but just remembering to see myself how God sees me is just beautiful! Thanks so much for your words of wisdom.
where do you get your podcasts? who do you like to listen to? im looking for some good sermons etc and dont know where to start!
Hey Jessica! Great question! I download all my podcasts free from Itunes. A lot of the bigger churches will share them for free on there. A couple of my favorites are Passion City Church in Atlanta, GA which is led by Louie Giglio and worship by Matt Redman and Chris Tomlin. I love Louie’s sermons! I also really like North Point Community Church which is led by Andy Stanley, and actually is also an Atlanta based church. Those are some great places to start. I’ll try to put together a list of others that I like to listen to and include them in a future post!
I suggest Todd White, Amber I think you would really enjoy him!
Thanks Angie! I’ll definitely give him a listen! 🙂
thanks, amber! i love your blog.
Ok, I’m going to have to check out some of those podcasts now! I’m always whining that I don’t have enough time in the day for things like that, but combining it with a walk would be perfect!
Following along now from the Bloglovin blog hop, looking forward to reading more 🙂
