photo-106Lately I’ve been in awe at how God uses seasons to remind us of his faithfulness. I took my kids on a walk this morning and as the crisp fall air hit our faces (how cute is Mckinley Jo in her little hat, by the way!), my mind immediately thought back to a year ago to last Fall. And how SOOOOO much has changed. Last year about this time I was pregnant and living with my parents for a few months in Iowa while we transitioned from Chicago to the Twin Cities. Most days, I was sick as a dog, had no energy, and missed Jake like mad as he lived in Minneapolis with friends while we waited for our house to sell in Illinois.  At the time, I thought we’d be adding one new baby to our family, but would find out at Thanksgiving that we had TWO little princesses growing inside me. The rest of my pregnancy was then immediately labeled high risk. So looking back God obviously had a hand in our long transition. He knew I needed to have the help of my parents to get through that grueling first trimester, while Jake worked long hours to get his business up and running in Minnesota.

Time kept ticking, our house sold, and God provided the perfect home for us in Woodbury. Soon after we got settled in, my brother and sister-in-law would move to the same metro area, answering our pipe dream prayer to have family close by. A couple months later, our precious baby girls were born absolutely healthy and wow, now they are six months old already! Through all the transitions, Baylen has been a trooper, and is such a little boy now, and will be two next month. Crazy, crazy, crazy. That saying is so true, how does it go again? “The days are long, but the years are short.”

I could go on and on about the reminiscent thoughts that have been racing through my mind, but the point is that through it all, the ups, the downs, the unknowns, the sleepless nights, the changes in weather, God walks with us to the other side. He doesn’t promise us that life will be a cake walk, but He does promise us that he’ll show us more of who HE is if we’re willing to take the time and notice. We are made to give HIM the glory for every season of our lives.

A few pictures from the last couple days…they really are growing so fast, aren’t they?!photo-105photo-103photo-104photo-102

As we welcome in the Autumn air, will you join me in thanking our Heavenly Father for His faithfulness? Think back to last year at this time. Maybe a lot has changed, or maybe you wish more would have. Whatever the case, let’s remember that God’s timing is perfect, and he is forever faithful.

How has God has shown Himself faithful to you lately? I would love to hear what He’s been up to!

God is faithful, indeed! I just love that picture of Baylen with the eyeglasses & nose mask. Your girls are precious as always.

It’s so true at how much can change in a year’s time. God has shown his faithfulness to me by giving me rest when I have needed it most. On those days where I ask myself how will I have the energy to get through the day (you understand!), God grants me extra patience or extra energy or a nap longer than 30 minutes! Haha, so yes, even in the small things God is faithful! 🙂

Yes, God is so faithful!! And I need to remind myself of how He is faithful so I can continue to trust Him for the future. God is showing His faithfulness to me right now by providing a new place to live that is cheaper rent and I’ll have girl roommates! (yes, we need to catch up!)
Love the pictures of the kids!! It has been too long since I’ve seen them! 🙂

    Hi Amber,
Thanks for writing this. I really needed to hear this today. I’ve been struggling a lot lately with the death of my son and the fact that his second birthday is quickly approaching. I am thankful everyday for my twins and the fact that they remind me on a daily basis of their big brother.
