This weekend I started seeing RED cups being posted all over social media. Swoon.
WHAT is it about the sight of this cup that makes my heart skip a beat?
Maybe it’s because I’ve been looking forward to getting out my Christmas decorations for a good month now, and I finally have justification.
Maybe it’s the fact that it means it’s officially okay to start watching holiday movies, which actually means I’m excited to have a break from watching Frozen [and every other animated movie we own] for the thousandth time in the row.
Or maybe it has something to do with the extra shopping I get to do, and the fact that I can get away with spending more money over the next couple months without my husband caring.
Yes, it’s definitely ALL those things.
But most importantly? I think it’s because every year at this time I’m reminded just how BLESSED I am.
I think the real reason the world gets excited about the red cup is because it ignites something in our hearts that reminds us that life is only meaningful because of the people we share it with.
We’re reminded that we’ve made it through another year, and that despite…
the battles we’ve faced,
the losses we’ve mourned,
the rejection we’ve felt,
and the changes we’ve accepted,
…we’re here.
And there’s still so much to be thankful for.
The truth is, life is never all sunshine and rainbows. The truth is, life is REAL. And REAL sometimes means hard. And when that feels like too much to handle? Remember someone is probably sipping from a red cup and thinking about how thankful they are for you. You matter. Your life matters. You are loved.
Cheers to another season with RED CUPS. Cheers to the REAL reason behind the season.
XOXO,
Amber
