Someone shared this with me recently, and I just have to share it with you.

Good moms breastfeed. Good moms formula feed.

Good moms vaccinate their kids. Good moms don’t vaccinate their kids.

Good moms co-sleep. Good moms use cribs.

Good moms have hospital births. Good moms have home births. Good moms adopt.

Good moms have natural births. Good moms have epidurals. Good moms have c-sections.

Good moms have 10 kids. Good moms have 1 kid.

Good moms use cloth diapers. Good moms use disposable diapers.

Wow, how true. Good moms come in all types. There’s not just one right way to approach motherhood…there are many right ways!

The awesome thing is, God has created each of us so uniquely, with our own opinions, philosophies, and personalities. And He uses the gifts He’s given us to help us parent in the way that makes sense to us. He has given us an innate ability to care for our kids, and all kinds of motherly instincts to go with it.

The other awesome thing is that He knows our kids! He has chosen our kids specifically for us because He knows we have the ability to raise them the way they need to be raised!

With that said, let’s remember how important it is to affirm each other in the ways we are raising our precious children. While we may not have the same approach as some of our friends and family, we need to remember that by seeking the Lord and loving our kids, we are ALL good moms.

It’s so critical to tell other moms that they are doing a good job because moms care SO much about getting it right! We want so badly to honor and glorify God, and raise up the next generation to do the same, and there is simply not room for people to give unsolicited advice that may question our ability to do so.

SO, my challenge for all of us this week is move beyond our differences. Let’s be intentional, reach out to a handful of parents we know, and tell them they are doing a good job, and that they are GREAT parents. Words of affirmation can go so far!

YOU, my friend, are a good mommy. You are doing a GREAT job. Parent confidently, knowing that God has given you ideas and strategies that work for your family, and you are the only one who knows exactly what they are. Seek the Lord, and ask HIM to fill you up so that you can parent out of the gifts HE’s given you.

Keep up the great work! You are amazing!

Wonderful post! It’s so hard especially for first time moms to hear all the things we are supposed to be doing and to deal with all the pressure that is put on us. I know the second time around I’m going to pay way less attention to what others think I should be doing and more on what works for me and my baby 🙂
