We’re going on 4 weeks of summer break over here.
Here are my honest thoughts as we’ve progressed so far! Haha!
Week 1: YESSS! School’s out! I don’t have to make lunches, we don’t have to rush to get out the door in the morning, we don’t have to squeeze in homework, I don’t have to keep track of all the paperwork and classroom details/events that get sent home everyday! We can push bedtime back a little bit, and enjoy the evenings together! Summer rocks! Can it be summer forever?!
Week 2: “Mom, I’m bored.” Seriously? How in the world can you be BORED? It’s only the second week of summer break! These kids don’t know how good they have it! And apparently when my kids are “bored” all they want to do is EAT! I cannot believe how much FOOD we’ve gone through since they’ve been home! They’re bottomless pits!
Week 3: I was cool with bedtime being pushed back a little bit, but now I feel like they are up until all hours, and I don’t get a break all day! I mean, I love my kids SO MUCH, but honestly? Sometimes I just need to sit by myself, drink a glass of wine, and watch The Bachelorette without having to run to their bedrooms a hundred times. Also, if they stay up later, why the heck don’t they sleep in? Maybe they could give me a little break in the morning at least? Okay, stop Amber. Enjoy this time with them. They are only this age once. Right. Deep breaths.
Week 4: Our lack of routine was driving me INSANE. There has to be a way to enjoy time with my kids and all that summer brings, while also feeling like I can have a little time to myself to feel like ME. But honestly? Every time I see these rewards charts and summer checklists? I kind of want to scream. Because it makes me feel like I’m not doing enough. I’m not a Pinterest mom. Never will be. But I KNOW I can 100% the mom I was created to be and have the BEST SUMMER EVER with my kids.
As I started to think about how I could get to work on this, I was reminded of one of my all time favorite movies: BAD MOMS. THOSE ladies are the types of moms I want to hang with this summer! Moms who don’t feel the need to have ALL their crap together just to impress others, but moms who have FREEDOM to be themselves, and be freaking AMAZING moms at the same time.
The truth is, each and every one of us as moms was created so uniquely for our children. How one mom rocks their summer may not be the same way you do! Instead of playing the comparison game, we need to focus instead on how we can just love the HECK out of our kids while creating memories we can look back on with NO REGRETS.
At the same time, I know how important it is for us as moms to get some time to fill our cups. When we can chat with others moms, get encouragement, and take time for self care. If we’re going to have the best summer ever, we need to be in our BEST possible emotional and physical state! We deserve to go into each day with abundance and overflow instead of being drained and exhausted!
Okay, so check out what I came up with! I woke up this morning SOOOO EXCITED and can’t WAIT for us to get together!
Starting on July 8th, I will be hosting a Bad Moms: Take Back Summer Break Boot Camp!
Every day, I’ll share daily MOM LIFE encouragement, hilarious motherhood memes, ideas on fun and SIMPLE things we can do at home with our kids, and LIVE VIDEOS sharing my heart and showing the chaos going on in our home.
In addition, I’m going put on my hat as a fitness coach to help you figure out how you can find 30 minutes a day to exercise and break a sweat, creating ENDORPHINS that will make you a HAPPY MOM! I’ll also give you tools and resources so you can EASILY feed your body with nutrients no matter how crazy it is! It’s far too easy to snack on our kids’ Mac and cheese and gold fish! But we need deserve BETTER than that!
I’d truly love to have tons of awesome moms in this group with me, which is why I’m offering my BIGGEST sale of the year! There’s an option for everyone, no matter what your price point is!
