I love how the simplest outings have the ability to bring overwhelming joy. This morning Baylen and I went on a date to an indoor playground here in Woodbury called Lookout Ridge. I’ve been trying to plan special little things like this for the two of us to do, knowing that I won’t have as many opportunities to do them for a little while after the girls are born. Even though he’s just 16 months and won’t remember the transition from being an only child to having sisters, I want him to feel loved and special through the whole process! I’ve also just been craving some time to chase him around and be silly and since this big belly of mine prevents me from being as active as I’d like with him some days, I need to jump on the opportunities when I feel good enough to do so.
I decided that today would be my “rest day” from working out this week, but boy was I wrong. Following my little tyke around, climbing up play sculptures, and bending my body to go down slides with him (and the girls) on my lap was definitely a great challenge! I enjoyed every second, teaching and observing him as he tried to figure out how to duck and crawl through tunnels, and beaming with pride when he was brave enough to climb up and go down a slide all by himself. It melts my heart to see him interact with the world around him. He’s such an extrovert, always smiling at anyone who will look his way. I pray that God continues to give him such a joyful personality and love for others.
Yes, sometimes the simplest things in life, like going to a playground, can bring joy that leaves us in absolute awe of the blessings God has given us. Spending the morning with Bay was certainly more fulfilling than any workout I could have done on my own at the gym. As for tomorrow, I might need that “me time”, but today God knew I needed the joy of jumping (literally) into the moment with my precious little boy.
What simple moments in your life lately have left you overflowing with joy? May we all remember to jump in the moment with those we love and seek out the blessings God so desperately wants us to enjoy!

I’m so glad you had the energy to play with your son today! I’m sure that beats a gym workout any day! I also have to say, your son is adorable! š
Im very jealous of your indoor playground! Wish we had one around here. It looks like so much fun.
That looks like such a fun indoor play area and you are such a great mom to make sure he feels special before the babies arrive š
What fun!!
Joy for me is looking at pictures of my precious new nephew and his older brother. š Also, the great ways that God is working in my family’s life!!!
